Since we use mint leaves for many different drinks, I thought it wise to buy a mint plant. This ensures we have the freshest ingredients available for our drinks and cost about the same as buying a small bundle of mint leaves. I picked this one up at Trader Joe’s for about $3. I can already smell that spearmint in my juleps and mojitos! Just don’t forget to water it every few days!
Here’s a tip too: if you plan to buy mint, make sure you purchase spearmint. It’s leaves are bigger and thus contain more mint oil for your drinks. Peppermint leaves are smaller and not as fragrant.
